A 22-year-old woman who died in a horrific hit-and-run accident on Christmas Day has been named as Maria Carolina Do Nascimento Migel. The police had attempted to stop a vehicle shortly before it collided with the car in which Ms. Migel was traveling as a passenger.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the Brent Cross flyover in London in the early hours of Sunday. Ms. Migel's family has paid tribute to her "beloved daughter" and her "little star" and is raising money for her body to be flown to Brazil. Four men, ages 21, 29, 29 and 32, were arrested in connection with the fatal collision and have since been released on bail.

A GoFundMe set up to raise money for Maria's body to be flown to Brazil raised £18,000 in just four days. Tributes and condolences have poured in to the family, with one person describing Maria as "very sweet and cheerful, Maria was loved by everyone."

Another added: "I will always love you my little pudding." Since then, all have been rescued pending further investigation. The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. on Christmas Day when patrolling officers in a marked vehicle signaled for a car to stop. Police say the vehicle sped away without stopping and officers decided not to pursue it.

A short time later, the same car was involved in a collision with another car in which Maria was a passenger further down the road and she fled the scene on foot. Maria was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service. The driver of the car she was in also sustained a minor head injury.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that María's relatives were informed. The family posted a heartbreaking message on the GoFund Me page that read: "Our beloved Princess Mary tragically passed away this Christmas morning in a car accident in London, England.

'Respecting her mother's wishes, she would like to bring her body back to Brazil so that she can rest in her hometown and close to all of her family. A message from 'father, mother and the whole family' thanked contributors for donations that 'exceed the estimated value for Vakinha (money raised from a group of people) from our dear daughter Maria, our little star.'

Detectives are appealing to witnesses to the fatal collision on the Brent Cross flyover in north London to come forward. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Two men, aged 29, and a 21-year-old man were arrested on Sunday December 25 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision."
