Speaking about why he suddenly decided to reveal everything, he stated:

The singer addressed the controversy in a statement shared on Instagram, saying that he used "poor judgment when speaking to anyone other than my wife in ANY flirtatious way." He added that he "did not have an affair, however" and claimed that he "crossed the line during an unfortunate period of my life." Levine is known primarily as the vocalist and guitarist for Maroon 5 and has received three Grammy Awards.
