Rich Fellers and and Maggie Kehring Wiki - Rich Fellers and and Maggie Kehring

Before being released from prison for sexually abusing one of his young students, a 63-year-old world-class equestrian coach and former Olympian show jumper in Oregon will have to serve a sentence longer than an Olympic Games. Rich Fellers was sentenced to 50 months in a federal detention facility on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut for the torture he inflicted on Maggie Kehring beginning when she was 16 years old, according to reports.

Despite the fact that Law&Crime normally does not identify sexual assault victims by name, Kehring has been a vocal supporter of those who have been sexually assaulted while participating in youth sports, speaking out about her own experiences and helping to form the charity organisation WeRideTogether in 2021. The group's website urges people to "shine a light on the pervasive issue of sexual abuse in youth sports."

Rich Fellers and and Maggie Kehring Incident Detail

In a plea agreement in July, Feller agreed to admit guilt to one count of travelling over state lines to engage in illegal sexual activity with a child. Fellers must register on the federal and state sex offender lists and serve an extra five years of supervised release in addition to his time in prison. In addition, the Washington County District Attorney's Office had accused him of abusing Kehring on four counts of second-degree sex abuse.

On October 27, he is expected to show up for his sentencing hearing in that case. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon, federal and state prosecutors claimed to have struck a "global resolution" in which Feller's prison sentence will run concurrently with any state jail term issued by Washington County.

Court records state that because Kehring was 14 years old, Fellers "maintained an intimate sexual relationship" with her from late 2019 until the summer of 2020. Kehring was one of his equestrian students. According to the prosecution, the couple's connection started when Kehring was 16 years old and concluded with a road trip in June 2020 when they left Oregon and went to a horse show in Michigan. According to the news release, investigators then discovered that Fellers organised the trip in order to have sex with the student.

Judge Immergut said to Fellers, "You basically stole the innocence of a child," before imposing the penalty, according to a story from The Chronicle of the Horse. According to reports, she called his acts "abuse of monumental proportions." Fellers apologised to Kehring, her family, as well as his relatives and friends, many of whom were apparently present, in his address to the court.

Fellers stated, "I offer no excuses," as quoted by the Chronicle. "My actions hurt her so much," I said. Fellers participated in a humorous October 2019 video for the Fédération Equestre Internationale where he answered questions while putting together a bridle, as previously reported by Law&Crime. He said that he wanted to be physically 20 years old once more when asked what superpower he would prefer.

Fellers was asked if he had a crush on any famous people. "No, not really," the equestrian replied. I'm too old to be in a crush. That occurred before the phone incident by a few months. Kehring admitted to the CBS affiliate KOIN in Portland, Oregon, in 2021, "I did care about him, you know, immensely." I had a great deal of regard and trust for him in my life.

She said she had made it obvious that she was still a virgin and had never been in a relationship. Since she was 11 years old, she had known Fellers. How would Kehring have defined Fellers at the age of 15? She remarked, "I would have stated that he is a wonderful rider. He has amazing horsemanship. He's a fantastic educator. He is a wonderful person.
